Mizzou will open the SEC era against defending SEC East champion Georgia on Sept. 8 at Faurot Field and will play No. 2 Alabama as its divisional crossover game on Oct. 13 in Columbia, the SEC and Mizzou announced Wednesday morning.
Overall, the conference schedule for MU's debut season in the league looks like this:
Sept. 8: vs. Georgia at Faurot Field
Sept. 22: at South Carolina
Oct. 6: vs. Vanderbilt at Faurot Field
Oct. 13: vs. Alabama at Faurot Field
Oct. 27: vs. Kentucky at Faurot Field
Nov. 3: at Florida
Nov. 10: at Tennessee
Nov. 24: at Texas A&M.
That means the Tigers will play four of their first five SEC games at home but the last three on the road.
In non-conference play, the Tigers will play host to Arizona State on Sept. 15. But the schedule released by Mizzou no longer features Southern Illinois or Miami (Ohio), and noted the school now has three non-conference games to schedule.
In a statement, Mizzou coach Gary Pinkel said: "It's good to see the schedule lined out on paper. Even though we just finished our season, this gets everyone excited to start preparing for the move. We're very pleased and honored to be joining such a successful and historically significant conference, and our program is looking forward to the challenges that we'll face."
