While the top teams in the Atlantic 10, Temple and SLU, have set themselves apart from the rest of the league, everything else remains a mess. With UMass' win over Xavier on Tuesday, UMass moved into a three-way tie for third in the league with Xavier and St. Joseph's. Two other teams, La Salle and St. Bonaventure, could also be tied for third by the close of business on Wednesday. And one team will be one game back at 7-6.

Xavier had a chance to set itself apart from the others with a win over UMass, but did not play very well, especially in the first half, when it had 16 turnovers, and lost, 80-73. Chaz Williams scored 29 for the Minutemen and had nine assists. "He completely dominated the game," Xavier coach Chris Mack said.

St. Joseph's, which hosts Richmond today, is working itself into NCAA at-large discussions, though it still seems like an extreme longshot. Richmond is a longshot to host an A-10 first-round game. It's pretty much looking to avoid being the 11 or 12 seed.

 One of the keys to La Salle's recovery has been the play of Tyreek Duren and he gets a big test when the Explorers host Temple tonight.

Dayton heads to Duquesne trying to keep its NCAA hopes alive. And to try to get a home game in the A-10 tournament. Right now Dayton is tied for eighth with Duquesne. You have to wonder how far down you can finish in the league and still be a bubble team. Dayton actually has a nice resume and some good wins. Duquesne doesn't have any NCAA hopes, but with a win would incerase its chances of playing its first A-10 tournament game at home.

At the bottom of the standings, Charlotte is trying to lock up its spot in the A-10 tournament with a game against George Washington.
