St. Louis University forward Mike Roach was chosen by the New England Revolution with the 60th pick overall in the Major League Soccer supplemental draft.
Roach, a Chaminade grad who started his college career at Indiana before transferring to SLU, had a career marked by injuries. As a senior, he appeared in only 11 of 17 games and had two goals and four assists.
Training camp for the MLS squad begins on Saturday in Casa Grande, Ariz. The Revolution have a long history of signing players from St. Louis, with Taylor Twellman (SLU High) and Steve Ralston (Oakville) being among the top players in the franchise's history.
Roach will try to join five other Billikens who were in the league at the end of last season: Brandon Barklage (DC United), Brad Davis (Houston Dynamo), Jack Jewsbury (Portland Timbers), Tim Ream (New York Red Bulls) and Tim Ward (San Jose Earthquakes).
