New Rams owner Stan Kroenke

What is the first thing you'd like to see or hear from new Rams owner Stan Kroenke?

Set up a new front office structure

Team will win or he'll clean house

QUESTION: What priorities do you feel should/will be high on new owner Stan Kroenke’s agenda to improve things for the Rams?

BILL COATS

Find a No. 2 running back and an experienced wide receiver. Seriously, it’s very hard to project because “Silent Stan” plays everything so close to the vest. I would imagine one of his early tasks would be to take a hard look at the infrastructure of the entire franchise and make sure that things are set up the way he wants them.

JEFF GORDON

I believe Kroenke should hire an excellent football man and make him the overlord, as the Browns did with Mike Holmgren. That overlord would then assess everybody during the course of the coming season and advise Kroenke accordingly.

Also, the new overlord would help Kroenke set the near-term priorities as well – such as, should the Rams spend draft picks to add veteran help for this season. When a Vincent Jackson-like opportunity arises, should the franchise pounce? Or should the front office wait until after the season?

Finally, the overlord could become the face of the franchise and relieve Sam Bradford of that rather awesome responsibility.

KEVIN WHEELER (Host of “Sports Open Line” on KMOX)

The primary goal for Kroenke from my viewpoint is to rebuild the team’s connection to their fans, much like the current Blues ownership group had to do when they took over.

Fans have had the stadium issue held over their heads with constant speculation about the team possibly heading back to Los Angeles. They’ve had to deal with both a dysfunctional management team (Shaw, Zygmunt, etc.) as well one that didn’t seem to have the desire or experience to run an NFL franchise (Chip & Lucia).

On top of all that the fans have had to endure a team that has won just 6 of its last 48 games, good for an impressive .125 winning percentage. The losing would be a huge obstacle on its own but combining it with the dysfunction and potential for the team to be moved the work required of Kroenke is significant.

An initial statement pledging to keep the team in St. Louis would be a good place to start. Throw in some cool promotions, some more fan-friendly events that bring people into close contact with the players they so desperately want to cheer for and a concise plan for the future and you might start to build some good will. Winning will ultimately have to be a part of any “plan” for the future but there is only so much Kroenke can change right out of the gate.

KATHLEEN NELSON

I think that in terms of personnel, on the field and in the front office, the train has left the station for this year. Major changes at this point would be a distraction. So, I think Kroenke can give the players, coaches and administrators a season to prove their worth.
