NFL notebook: Jags go with Henne over Gabbert at QB

Desperate to snap a seven-game losing streak, the Jacksonville Jaguars named Chad Henne their starting quarterback for Sunday’s game against Tennessee. Henne threw for 354 yards and four touchdowns in a 43-37 overtime loss at Houston in relief of Blaine Gabbert, the Mizzou standout, who hurt his right forearm and had trouble gripping the ball. Coach Mike Mularkey said Gabbert is questionable against the Titans (4-6).

“We’re just trying to find ways to see if we can be more productive, that’s all,” Mularkey said.

Ravens • The league suspended safety Ed Reed for a game for repeated headhunting. Reed will not be allowed to practice this week, and cannot play in the Ravens’ game Sunday at San Diego.

Broncos • Running back Willis McGahee tore a ligament in his right knee and will be out for six to eight weeks. Coach John Fox said the injury won’t require surgery.

Lions • Coach Jim Schwartz said receiver Titus Young will be inactive against the Texans for what Schwartz called “unacceptable” behavior during Sunday’s loss to Green Bay.

Patriots • Tight end Rob Gronkowski is expected to miss four to six weeks after having surgery for a broken left forearm. Coach Bill Belichick, however, gave no update on the tight end.
