The new coaching staff that came to St. Louis more than a year and a half ago never seemed to take a liking to defensive end Victor Adeyanju. He was inactive the first six games of 2009 under new head coach Steve Spagnuolo. And on Saturday, Adeyanju's four-year stint with the Rams came to an end.
Adeyanju was among the Rams' roster cuts Saturday as the team worked its way down to the 53-man regular-season roster limit. A fourth-round draft pick in 2006, Adeyanju started 26 games in four seasons. His best season was 2008, when he registered 73 tackles and two sacks. Adeyanju is a hard-working, second-effort type of players. But he never displayed much polish as a pass rusher, which probably led to his demise in St. Louis.
Other newly confirmed roster cuts by the Rams: linebacker Bobby Carpenter, who was acquired in the Alex Barron trade with Dallas; cornerback Marquis Johnson, a seventh-round draft pick; wide receiver Brandon McRae; and offensive tackle Ryan McKee.
