Stan Kroenke was colorful, informative, and at times humorous during his press conference Wednesday in Atlanta after being unanimously approved as new controlling owner of the St. Louis Rams. Which made one writer from Denver, where Kroenke owns the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche, wonder why Kroenke so rarely speaks to the press.
"I just really have a busy life," Kroenke said. "And I have a lot of responsibilities. I like members of the press. I really do. Honestly, I almost went to journalism school.
"But I just don't have the time. And it takes a lot of time to really kind of build these (media) relationships and nurture them, and things like that. And once you start, it does tend to continue.
"So I'm not trying to offend anybody. It's not like that. I know there's this wonderful little picture out there that Stan is silent and all this. It makes good copy I guess in selling newspapers. But it just isn't so."
