The "rookies-only" portion of training camp to an end Friday with a 1 hour, 40 minute session with temperatures in the mid 90s at Rams Park.
"Really pleased with it," coach Jeff Fisher said. "As you can see we got to put some shoulder pads on and that was by design. We wanted to introduce the pads to them before next week when everybody puts them on. So, we were pleased."
(The players were in shorts, however, and not full pads.)
Fisher says traditionally, the third day of practice in camp can be a time when pulled muscles and soft tissue issues begin to crop up. But the team came through injury free.
"We got through it without any problems," he said. "So now they can rest and recover."
Other than perhaps some light lifting, the 31 rookies (plus third-year TE Michael Hoomanawanui) who participated in the three-day rookie session can rest and recover until Sunday’s first full-squad practice. The veterans report Saturday with a mandatory team meeting at 9 a.m., followed by conditioning tests.

For the third day in a row rookie offensive guard Rokevious Watkins took part in only stretching and conditioning drills as he continues to work himself back into shape.
Watkins gained some weight during the late-June/July break, prompting Fisher to remark: "He had a little trouble pushing himself away from the dinner table."

WR Chris Givens, the fourth-round draft pick from Wake Forest made a nice sideline catch on a deep ball from QB Austin Davis, the undrafted rookie from Southern Mississippi.
CB Janoris Jenkins had some good coverage moments, including a pass breakup on a sideline catch.
