A quarterback and defensive back, the Public High League large-schools player of the year led Gateway Tech to a 10-3 record, Public High League championship and a trip to the Class 4 quarterfinals. He threw for 2,037 yards, with 26 touchdowns and seven interceptions, ran for 1,678 yards and 16 touchdowns and caught three passes for 51 yards and also had 21 tackles, two interceptions and a fumble recovery as a defensive back.
