An Oklahoma University recruit and the area’s top prospect, Neal was a playmaker all over the field once again for the Spartans. He played wide receiver, running back, quarterback, free safety and cornerback and returned kicks and punts. He caught 35 passes for 825 yards, an average of 23.6 yards per catch, and 15 touchdowns. He ran 78 times for 716 yards and 11 touchdowns. He passed for 105 yards and two scores. When you factor in two touchdowns on returns, Neal accounted for 30 touchdowns. DeSmet went 9-3 and advanced to the Missouri Class 5 quarterfinals.
