What you need to know • After going 5-6 a year ago, SLUH has started with victories over Parkway North (42-28) and Ladue (28-7). A trio of juniors — QB Trevor McDonagh (428 passing yards, 5 touchdowns), WR Mitch Klug (14 catches, 260 yards, 3 TDs) and Terek Hawkins (345 rushing yards, 3 TDs) — have set the tone offensively for the Junior Bills, ranked ninth among Post-Dispatch large schools. The defending Missouri Class 5 champion, Webster Groves has dominated in beating McCluer (51-14) and University City (45-7). Quarterback Marquis Clemons has rushed for 164 yards, passed for another 102 and accounted for six TDs. The fourth-ranked Statesmen are led defensively by LB Jason Meehan, the 2009 Post-Dispatch defensive player of the year.
COLLINSVILLE (2-0) at BELLEVILLE WEST (2-0)
When • 7 p.m.
What you need to know • The Kahoks beat visiting West last season 32-28 as QB Austin Hails and WR Chris Tidwell hooked up on a 14-yard TD pass as time expired. In a 29-21 victory at Triad last week, Collinsville DB Gus Wellmaker was involved in 18 tackles (seven solos) and LB Theo Marler had 17 (five solos). West will be without LB Garrett Reno, who was ejected during last week's 20-6 victory over Althoff. The Maroons rely on 5-foot-11, 182-pound RB Sedrick Spillers, who has rushed for 338 yards and accounted for three touchdowns this fall. Tonight's game is the Southwestern Conference opener for both squads.
TIMBERLAND (2-0) at FRANCIS HOWELL (2-0)

What you need to know • The two defending Gateway Athletic Conference champs meet as Timberland, formerly of the GAC North, enters riding a 17-game league winning streak. The Wolves, who opened the season with GAC South wins over Howell North (42-21) and Troy (37-13), have two TDs apiece from Haleem Rayford and Clayton Raspberry. Cody Ayres leads the Timberland defense. Sixth-ranked Howell, the defending GAC South champ, is getting stellar play from senior QB Brett Graves, who leads the team in passing (370 yards, 5 TDs) and rushing (211 yards, 3 TDs). Tim Thomas leads the Howell defense with 24 tackles, including nine solos.
EUREKA (2-0) at MARQUETTE (2-0)
When • 7 p.m.
What you need to know • After making the switch from the Suburban South, 10th-ranked Eureka has posted impressive league victories over Lafayette (28-0) and Mehlville (41-14). Spencer Stein (183 rushing yards) and Chase Bollinger (91 rushing yards, 68 receiving yards) have three TDs apiece for the Wildcats. Bollinger is also the team's top tackler. Opening with victories over Sumner and league foe Oakville, Marquette has already matched its victory total from 2009. Junior QB/DB Anthony Dudley has accounted for seven TDs and is also Marquette's early-season leader in tackles.
CBC (1-1) at DeSMET (1-1)
When • 7 p.m.
What you need to know • Both teams enter their Metro Catholic Conference opener after similar starts. DeSmet, which has won at least a share of the past three MCC titles, lost 20-19 at two-time defending Class 6 state champ Hazelwood Central before bouncing back with a 44-24 victory over Hazelwood East a week ago. In his debut at QB, junior Durron Neal ran for three scores, threw for a pair and also returned an interception 75 yards for a TD. After falling 36-34 to Zumwalt West on a last-second field goal, CBC blasted Howell Central 32-7 in Week 2. The Cadets have received two TDs apiece from Josiah Stanfield, Jonathan Parker, Antonio Brown and Josh Walker.
