A junior wrestling in the state tourney for the first time, Franklin (47-3) beat three eventual medalists en route the Class 4 championship at 170 pounds, including Chris Lattner of Blue Springs 8-3 in the title match. Franklin also beat third-place Jake Hawks of Timberland and fourth-place Dominic Vitale of Fox. Also was a standout football player for the Howell team that reached the Class 6 semifinals in the fall, Franklin tallied 98 tackles, five sacks and a pair of fumble recoveries.
