A freshman competing at 220 pounds, a weight class normally dominated by upperclassmen, Czar became the first Knights wrestler to win a regional title when he pinned Litchfield's Cole Werner in 3 minutes, 36 seconds Saturday in Class 1A action at Althoff. Czar (18-2) will wrestle this weekend in the Class 1A sectional in Robinson, looking for a top-four finish and a trip to state. The only experienced wrestler for the first-year program at Mater Dei, Czar took third at the Mascoutah Invitational in late December and was an IKWF runner-up last spring in Rockford.
