ST. CHARLES • Every time he steps out onto the floor, Marquette senior and University of Missouri recruit Ryan Rosburg can be sure of one thing.

He's going to get the best from everybody he faces.

Friday was no exception as Rosburg led his Mustangs past a pesky Duchesne squad 48-38 as part of the second annual GAC/Suburban Shootout at the Family Arena.

"I've been dealing with this for four years," Rosburg said. "I've seen double teams, triple teams, and a box-and-one. The main thing is to not let it get to you. You kind of get used to it because you'll see pressure all the time."

Rosburg, despite the extra attention, led all scorers with 24 points. He also collected 11 rebounds.

Duchesne coach Wade Bouslog, for one, was impressed by Rosburg and the Mustangs' othe inside players.

"We've been fortunate this year because we've got some decent size and we've wreaked havoc on teams this year, but you can't really do that with these guys," Bouslog said. "I don't know of any other teams we're going to see with this kind of size. Maybe even if we make it out to the final four. This is a good test."

Marquette, No. 6 in the STLhighschoolsports.com large-schools rankings, improved to 5-1. Duchesnes slipped to 4-2.

The Mustangs took a 17-15 lead early in the second quarter and never trailed again.

The Mustangs never quite managed to land a knock-out blow on the Pioneers. They never led by more than eight points until the very end and led by just two early in the fourth quarter.

"Duchesne is a great team, they are so talented," Marquette coach Shane Matzen said. "They are going to be a load this year, but can you imagine when all those kids are seniors?"

Marquette's Mitch Cox hit four free throws in a row in the game's waning minutes to seal the victory.

"Mitch has been big for us all season," Rosburg said. "I've played basketball with him since kindergarten, and that's how he's always been."

In addition to Rosburg's double-double, Marquette got 11 points from Cox and 10 from Alex Winter.

Drew Moore and Tommy Robert led Duchesne with nine points apiece.

In Friday's other games at the GAC/Suburban Shootout ...

Lindbergh 47, Fort Zumwalt West 31 • The Flyers were paced by 11 points from Cameron McGuire and 10 from Blake Welch as they knocked off Zumwalt West at the shootout.

Lindbergh (4-2) came out of the gate strong, outscoring Zumwalt West 12-1 in the first quarter.

Austin Kemp led Zumwalt West (2-5) with eight points.

St. Charles 59, Mehlville 55 • St. Charles scored 41 points in the second half as its offense came to life in the opening game of Friday's three-game schedule at the Shootout.

The Pirates (6-2) outscored Mehlville 20-6 in the third quarter and powered to an additional 21 points in the final quarter.

Tim Evans led St. Charles with 13 points, and Steve Howard added 11.

Cameron Stoner led Mehlville (1-6) with 18 points.
