VERSATILE MICDS STANDOUT EXCELS ON THE ATTACK
When it comes to Tucker Sanders-Lyle, MICDS lacrosse coach Andy Kay is pretty direct.
"He is one of the better players to come out of the program in recent memory," Kay said. "Tucker has been such a positive leader for the varsity program."
With injuries leaving a large gap, Sanders-Lyle was assigned to a new position for the 2011 campaign; attack.
A middie since he first picked up a stick in the third grade. Sanders-Lyle initially was irritated.
"I felt uncomfortable for a while," he said. "But it gave me a chance to be a lot more creative on offense."
He proved to be both creative and productive.
Sanders-Lyle is blessed with extraordinary field vision. He has the size (6-2, 180) to draw double teams and step through heavy traffic to bury one.
He did just that 46 times this season, while also doling out 42 assists.
"You don't find that kind of balance at a high school program," Kay said.
Sanders-Lyle helped lead the Rams to a 13-3 record and berth in the Missouri Scholastic Lacrosse Association Division I state championship, which they lost to Kansas City Rockhurst.
"Rockhurst was a great team," said Sanders-Lyle, who will play for Dennis in college. "We just couldn't put it together."
