For Wentzville junior Brad Fahs, the final notes of the 2011 boys lacrosse season were far happier ones then the ones that played out during his final seconds on the lacrosse field.

Instead of remembering the 2011 season for a .500 record (7-7) or a 7-4 loss to eventual Missouri State Lacrosse Association (MSLA) Division II champion, Fahs gets to remember the year for different reasons.

He gets to remember it as the year in which he was an all-state and all-conference middle.

"It was just awesome, I was shocked when I heard it," Fahs said. "I am honored, but I don't really know how to describe it."

This season, Fahs amassed 33 goals and six assists on 117 shots.

He also tallied 74 ground balls and six penalties for the Indians.

"While we weren't able to win our last game, which is always the goal, it was good to see some recognition for the guys that had really worked so hard throughout the year," Wentzville lacrosse coach Chris Benton said. "Brad did a little bit of everything. He was one of our leaders in the midfield. To be our leading goal scorer was really important. For a team that struggled to score, especially in the early part of the year, to have a player score 30 goals in a matter of 15 games is a good year."

While Fahs was the only member of the Indians to be selected to the all-state team, there were five others who joined Fahs in representing the Indians on the National Conference first-team.

Those five were: attackman Garth Wagner, middle Corey Stengel, defensemen Noel Blood and Luke Thaxton and goaltender Patrick Miller.

This season, Wagner tallied 10 goals and six assists on 39 shots; Stengel added 12 goals and eight assists on 96 shots and Blood was among team leaders with 74 ground balls.

"We were very well represented by the end of the year," Benton said. "We had six kids on the first team and then five on the second team, as far as all-conference. It showed the work these guys were willing to put in to improve."

Miller made 153 saves on 267 shots, for a goals against average of 8.40 per game.

"Patrick put a lot of pressure on himself this season," Benton said. "Sometimes we had to remind him that it is really hard to get a shutout in lacrosse. He played really well in some pressure-packed games and really kept us in it."

Five members of the Wentzville Lacrosse Club also were honored as members of the National Conference second team.

Those players were: attackman Patrick Flynn (five goals, nine assists); middles Mac Corbett (12, 4), Kirk Schneider (12, 2) and Jon Schulte (5, 5); as well as defenseman Mason Wageman.
