BLUE SPRINGS • The St. Pius X soccer team finished its season on a high note Saturday morning, posting a 2-0 victory over Fatima in the Class 1 third-place game at Blue Springs High in suburban Kansas City.
The third-place finish is the fifth in as many state trips for the Lancers (23-5-1), who also took third in 1987, 1991, 2004 and 2005.
Senior Jordan Tucker scored twice Saturday, finishing as the area's top scorer with 35 goals and 21 assists for 91 points.
Tucker scored unassisted goals in the fifth and 64th minutes against Fatima (15-14). Garrett McDowell recorded the shutout for St. Pius X.
St. Pius fell 3-0 to Pembroke Hill of Kansas City in Friday's semifinals. In the title game on Saturday, Springfield Catholic (29-0-1) posted a 1-0 victory over Pembroke Hill (13-16).
