Girls runners to watch
Kristen Busch, senior, Freeburg
Busch won the Class 1A state title last year in a PR time of 17 minutes, 36 seconds. She had previously finished second and fourth at the state meet. She also won at regional and sectionals before taking 44th at the Foot Locker Midwest Regional in 18:48.

Courtney Rogers, sophomore, Lutheran St. Charles
Rogers burst on the season last fall and captured the Class 2 state title in 19:06, and she ran well in a pair of postseason meets after the season. In the spring, she finished as the runner-up in the 3,200 in a time of 11:36.

Savannah Ames, sophomore, Althoff
As a freshman last year, Ames rolled to a 18:16 over the three-mile Illinois state course to capture 39th in Class 2A. She advanced through the postseason by winning her regional in 19:05.

Amanda Behnke, senior, Lutheran South
Behnke climbed into the top 10 in Class 3 last fall with a ninth-place finish at the state meet in 19:51, and she followed that with a PR time of 19:34 at the Foot Locker Midwest Regional. Last spring, she captured seventh in the Class 3 1,600-meter run with a PR of 5:12.54.
