The wrestling postseason gets under way today with regional tournaments throughout Illinois.

Action at all sites involving area wrestlers will begin at 10 a.m., with finals at approximately 2 p.m.

Southwestern Conference champion Belleville West will be joined by league foes Granite City, Edwardsville, Belleville East, Alton, Collinsville, O'Fallon and East St. Louis as well as Danville and Quincy in the Class 3A regional at O'Fallon.

Triad, which placed fourth at state in 2009 and reached the quarterfinals a year ago, figures to be challenged by Cahokia and Mascoutah for the top spot in the Class 2A meet at Mascoutah. Others in the field there are Althoff, Civic Memorial, Highland, Jerseyville and Waterloo.

Roxana and Wood River join Carlinville, Carrollton, Hillsboro, Litchfield, Mount Olive and Pittsfield in the Class 1A competition in Mount Olive.

The top three individuals in each weight class today will advance to sectional tournaments Feb. 11-12 at Vandalia (Class 1A), Mahomet-Seymour (Class 2A) and Granite City (Class 3A).

The top three finishers from sectionals in Class 1A and Class 2A and the top four sectional finishers from Class 3A will move on to the state tournament Feb. 18-19 at the University of Illinois' Assembly Hall in Champaign.

In addition, top team finishers from today's regionals will advance to the dual-team sectionals Tuesday, Feb. 22, with that night's winning teams going on to the dual-team state tournament Feb. 26 at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington.

In Missouri, district tournaments will be held Feb. 11-12, with the top four finishers in each weight division from Class 1, Class 2, Class 3 and Class 4 advancing to the state tournament Feb. 17-19 at Mizzou Arena in Columbia.
