The Blues re-signed left winger Brad Winchester to a one-year, $700,000 contract extension on Friday.

Winchester, 29, has played two seasons with the Blues, registering 16 goals and 29 points. After posting 13 goals and 21 points in 2008-09, Winchester's offensive production dipped to three goals and eight points in 2009-10. He was in 10 fights last year, according to hockeyfights.com.

"I think when you look at Brad, we need some size in that part of the roster," Blues general manager Doug Armstrong said. "At 6-foot-5, he brings size and power. We've seen some offense in the past, and we felt on a one-year deal, it was worth giving him an opportunity to come back to the roster." (Jeremy Rutherford)
