The Detroit Red Wings re-signed forward Drew Miller to a one-year contract Tuesday. Terms were not released.
Miller was the Anaheim Ducks' sixth-round pick (186th overall) in 2003 out of Michigan State. He played parts of three seasons with the Ducks before a trade to the Tampa Bay Lightning before the 2009-10 season.
Miller played 14 games with Tampa Bay before being waived. The Red Wings claimed him in November, and he played in 66 games for Detroit last season, scoring 10 goals and adding nine assists.
Gordon goes back to Capitals • Restricted free agent forward Boyd Gordon signed a one-year, $800,000 contract with the Washington Capitals.
Gordon, a fourth-line specialist who plays both center and right wing, did not file for salary arbitration by Monday's deadline. He had four goals and six assists in 36 games last season. He missed time with back injuries but won 61 percent of his faceoffs, which would have led the NHL had he played enough games to qualify.
Predators sign Kostitsyn • The Nashville Predators signed free agent left winger Sergei Kostitsyn, acquired from Montreal last month for forward Dustin Boyd and goaltender Dan Ellis, to a one-year contract worth $550,000.
Kostitsyn had 18 points in 47 games with the Canadiens last season.
Wild re-sign two players • The Minnesota Wild have re-signed right winger Jon DiSalvatore and defenseman Jamie Fraser to two-way contracts.
Both players spent last season with the Houston Aeros. DiSalvatore got a two-year deal after scoring 21 goals and 52 points in 79 games. Fraser had six goals and 16 assists in 59 games with the Aeros.
Skrudland, Murphy back with Panthers • The Florida Panthers hired Brian Skrudland as the director of player development and Gord Murphy as an assistant coach. Both were members of Florida's team that went to the Stanley Cup finals in 1996.
