BLUES VS. LOS ANGELES
When • 7 tonight.
Where • Scottrade Center.
TV, radio • Fox Sports Midwest, KMOX (1120 AM).
Blues preview • The Blues return from the NHL All-Star break rested and they hope not too rusty after a nine-day layoff. The club was winless in its last two games before the break (0-1-1) and now faces a Los Angeles team that is 2-0 against it this season. The Blues are expected to be without Alex Steen and Andy McDonald, who despite practicing this week aren't ready to return from concussions.
Kings preview • Los Angeles is embarking on a six-game, 11-day trip tonight, as the Staples Center prepares to host the Grammy Awards. The Kings are 10-5-6 on the road this season, including a 3-2 shootout victory at Vancouver in their last road outing. All-Star goaltender Jonathan Quick is tied for the league lead with six shutouts, but he has given up 10 goals in his last three appearances in St. Louis.
What to watch • The Blues have revamped the personnel on their power play, which ranks 28th in the NHL. Instead of breaking up the top players and putting them on two separate units, coach Ken Hitchcock has grouped his best players on one unit. The top unit will consist of Alex Pietrangelo, Kevin Shattenkirk, David Backes, T.J. Oshie and David Perron.
Injuries • Blues — LW Alex Steen (concussion), LW Andy McDonald (concussion) and D Kent Huskins (ankle), out; Kings — LW Simon Gagne (concussion) and RW Scott Parse (hip), out.
