The Blues played a terrific game and celebrated the return of Andy McDonald with a convincing win over San Jose. The victory was a league-leading 24th at home for the Blues.

McDonald was a threat all night and assisted on the Blues' first goal by Alex Pietrangelo, who had two goals, the first two-goal game of his career. David Perron also scored, his sixth goal in four games. Jaroslav Halak stopped 23 shots for the shutout, his sixth of the season.

***

T. J. Oshie going off for tripping, again. Blues still have a two-goal lead with 7:35 remaining.

***

Jaroslav Halak with a big save on Patrick Marleau late in the period to keep it 2-0. The Blues will carry a two-gaol advantage into the third.

The Blues make it 2-0 with less than three minutes to play on another 5-on-3 power play. David Perron gets the goal, his sixth in four games and his 10th of the season.

***

Blues are playing well, but with 9:45 to play in second, they still have only one goal. That's troubling.

***

San Jose goes on the power play. They have one of the best in the league.

***

The Blues were able to take a lead with special teams. Three consecutive penalties on the Sharks wound up giving the Blues some 5-on-3 time, and they took advantage with a goal by Pietrangelo to take a 1-0 lead to the intermission.

***

Alex Pietrangelo pounds a shot past Antti Niemi for his ninth goal of the season at 15:03 as the Blues take a lead. David Backes was in front of Niemi providing a great screen. Assists go to Andy McDonald and T. J. Oshie.

***

The Blues get a  5-on-3 power play for nearly a minute as the Sharks take a second penalty for delay of game. The Blues called timeout to set something up.

***

Jamie Langenbrunner just had a great chance on a setup by Andy McDonald. The Blues are going on the power play with 9:19 to play.

***

Midway through the first, still scoreless. The Sharks have had the better of the play.
