Bruins defeat Preds with 2 SO goals
Tyler Seguin and Patrice Bergeron scored shootout goals to lift the Boston Bruins to a 4-3 win over the visiting Nashville Predators on Saturday.
Boston forced overtime when Milan Lucic scored a power-play goal with 67 seconds left in regulation after goalie Tim Thomas was pulled for an extra skater.
Daniel Paille and Bergeron also scored for the Bruins, who had lost seven of 12.
Thomas stopped 19 shots in regulation, and then turned aside Sergei Kostitsyn and Martin Erat in the shootout.
Lightning 2, Sabres 1 • Steven Stamkos had a goal and assist, and Tampa Bay defeated host Buffalo for its seventh win in 10 games. Mathieu Garon made 26 saves, and Steve Downie also scored during the Lightning's two-goal second period. Buffalo failed to earn a point for the first time in seven games.
Canadiens 5, Maple Leafs 0 • Carey Price turned aside 32 shots, and Montreal hammered host Toronto after the Maple Leafs retired the famous No. 13 of longtime former captain Mats Sundin. It was the third consecutive loss for the Maple Leafs, who absorbed their worst defeat since being beaten 7-0 by Boston on Nov. 5.
Penguins 8, Jets 5 • Evgeni Malkin added to his NHL-leading point total, scoring a goal and dishing out four assists as Pittsburgh rolled past visiting Winnipeg. Richard Park notched his 100th career NHL goal, and Jordan Staal scored in his first game after missing more than a month with a left knee injury.
Panthers 3, Devils 1 • Scott Clemmensen stopped 27 shots against his former team, and Florida defeated host New Jersey. Sean Bergenheim, Kris Versteeg and Mikael Samuelsson scored for the Panthers, who have won four of six.
Oilers 4, Senators 3 • Taylor Hall scored 17 seconds into overtime, and Edmonton snapped a two-game losing streak by defeating host Ottawa. Anderson stopped 36 shots in his NHL-leading 50th start this season.
Blue Jackets 3, Wild 1 • R.J. Umberger scored two goals, one on a power play with 21 seconds left in the second period, to give Columbus a victory over host Minnesota.
Rangers 5, Flyers 2 • Ryan Callahan scored three goals as New York defeated host Philadelphia for the Rangers' seventh consecutive victory over the Flyers.
Islanders 2, Kings 1 • Mark Streit's goal 1:36 into overtime lifted New York over visiting Los Angeles.
