AC St. Louis held the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer scoreless for 69 minutes before giving up a goal to, ironically, DeSmet High grad Chris Klein on their way to a 2-0 loss in a U.S. Open Cup match in Carson, Calif., on Tuesday night.
AC St. Louis' defense eventually wore down under steady pressure from the Galaxy, and after Klein's goal, they had to leave themselves exposed as they tried to get a tying goal and 10 minutes later, Juninho scored the second goal for the Galaxy.
From the online accounts, it seemed that AC St. Louis did pretty well for a long while there. The loss knocks them out of the Open Cup and ends a four-game unbeaten streak, but the team seems to be making a steady improvement.
By the way, Manuel Kante and Christian Nzinga have, by agreement with the club, left the team, apparently returning to Europe.
