St. Louis Brewery and Tap Room

The meat pie is delicious, especially during winter.
If you're a beer lover with a penchant for microbrews that are loaded with character, the St. Louis Tap Room is a must on your list of places to eat and drink. Housed in the former home of a printing company that was swept by fire in 1976, the St. Louis Tap Room has been restored to its natural splendor. It was also the first brew pub in the State of Missouri. Today, you can sip a pint or two of one of the seven Schlafly brews on tap -- including a cask-conditioned ale -- while noshing burgers, stews, sandwiches and french fries. The airy dining room has lots of exposed brick and wooden floors. A huge glass window at the south end of the room opens onto the tanks of Schlafly ale, stout and lager brewing beyond. Shoot pool, throw darts or relax on one of the leather couches in the half-pint room. Live bands play upstairs on weekend evenings.
