Food, drinks come cheap at A-B's Place
![]() ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
It is a fact of youth that the party always starts late. And this new bar in southwest St. Louis caters to an under-30 crowd that is looking for cheap drinks, cheap food, live music and DJs. A-B's Place opened in late August in a building that has in the past 10 years housed at least two bars, a barbecue joint and a dance hall. It has no afternoon hours. The new occupants do not offer a wide selection of beverages, but they are all priced low. For example, on Wednesdays they offer $2 well drinks, $1 PBR and 50-cent (yes, that's right) cans of Natty Light. Regular prices are $2.50 for domestic bottles and draft; and $3 for imports, wells and Schlafly drafts. The food menu is limited and written on chalkboard behind the bar, but each item is $1: cheeseburger; french fries; four chicken wings; four cheese sticks; three toasted ravs. And food is served until 1 a.m. A DJ is featured on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, karaoke on Thursdays and a live band at least one night each weekend. Tonight, a Halloween Horror Hop (with a $5 cover) will feature West Coast swing music.
