Big DJ brings his turntables to Home
![]() POST-DISPATCH POP MUSIC CRITIC
Dance-music DJ Tiësto, the Dutch turntablist who answers to the heading of the "biggest DJ in the world," returns to St. Louis next week with a new CD, "Kaleidoscope," featuring Nelly Furtado. Describe the CD. I just wanted to collaborate with a lot of different artists I'm a fan of, great artists I wanted to get involved with. It sounds more like a singer-songwriter dance album. Is it true you had to create your own label just to release "Kaleidoscope"? I used to be with another label, and thought it was time to do my own thing because I was going in a different direction. I probably couldn't have been able to do the CD (there). It would have been very different. How would you describe your DJ style? A bit of everything of the moment, not just trance music but the best of what the world has to offer, including house, electronic, techno and club music. How does it feel to be the "biggest DJ in the world"? It's flattering I guess. That's all I have to say about that.
