Oct. 9, 2009: Phantom of the Opera moves to ... Coney Island?
Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber announced Thursday he has created a sequel to "Phantom of the Opera" that will be set 10 years later at Coney Island. Judith Newmark is asking in a poll at stltoday.com/CultureClub if this is a good idea.
Not only did KSDK preempt "Parks and Recreation" last week, but it didn’t run it overnight at the time listed, as it had promised viewers who wanted to tape it, a chatter told Gail Pennington at her Thursday chat at stltoday.com/TubeTalk. Gail said to watch online, adding, "If a station doesn’t respect you, don’t respect back."
Singer Miley Cyrus has given up her Twitter page after posting a final message: "FYI Liam (Hemsworth, rumored to be her boyfriend) doesn’t have a Twitter and he wants ME to delete mine with good reason."
Mattel has launched a line of black Barbie dolls with fuller lips, a wider nose and more pronounced cheek bones — a far cry from Christie. Christie, Barbie’s black friend in the 1960s, was a white doll painted brown. The dolls are offered in light brown, chocolate and caramel. Two have curlier hair.
