With all this debate about health care reform, we think one obvious proposal has been missed: the "apple-a-day" option. So many doctors will be kept away that costs are sure to drop. But seriously — we're just coming into the height of apple season locally, and the choices for fresh, locally grown apples have been growing steadily. Centennial Farms and Orchards of Augusta, for example, now grows 24 varieties. And if an apple a day is good for you, how about apples for breakfast, lunch, dinner and even a midday or late-night snack? We've compiled recipes that can keep you eating apples morning, noon and night. You may not need to see a doctor for the rest of the year.
