Rockwood won't get more vaccine
ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
Rockwood School District won't get any extra doses of the H1N1 vaccine to make up for more than 1,800 doses that were discarded last month after a district refrigerator holding the vaccine malfunctioned. However, the St. Louis County Health Department still expects that all district students who want the vaccine will get one. "It delays but does not change our efforts," said Craig LeFebvre, with the department. "We're still operating under the fact that we've received very little vaccine compared to what we hoped to receive." The district was expecting a shipment of 2,500 H1N1 flu mist vaccines, which it hopes to give to high-risk students at clinics next week. It will store them at the St. Clare Health Center in Fenton. The district had to throw away 1,831 doses of the flu mist vaccine that was shipped to the district Oct. 16. A thermostat in a warehouse refrigerator malfunctioned the weekend after it got the shipment.
