Disease tracker for Nov. 5

Flu activity is widespread in both states, with Illinois reporting six deaths this week from H1N1. Confirmed cases of H1N1 (swine flu) are not an accurate depiction of the number of illnesses because most people are not tested. There have been more than 15,000 reported cases of flu this season in Missouri, most of which are presumed to be H1N1. To find a flu vaccine, visit www.flu.gov or call 314-644-4358.

Illinois — 731 hospitalizations, 28 deaths

Sources: Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and the Illinois Department of Public Health; numbers are through Wednesday.
