What's new at ski destinations, from Oregon to Maine

The November issue of National Geographic Adventure magazine is recommending 11 ski destinations from Oregon to Maine. They are:

Snowmass in Colorado — An alternative to the "hustle and bustle of downtown Aspen."

Sun Valley, Idaho — Launching its first gondola for the ride 2,000 vertical feet up Bald Mountain.

Park City Mountain Resort in Utah — Reach the High West Distillery and Saloon's bar and tapas restaurant on skis.


Rossland, in British Columbia — A "no-stoplights, no-Starbucks former mining town."

Northstar-at-Tahoe in California — Offers a new Ritz-Carlton and gondola.

Mount Bachelor in Oregon — Daily lift tickets will be priced $49-$69.

Sugar Bowl in the Lake Tahoe-Truckee area in California — Skicross will be featured Feb. 1-17.

Jay Peak Resort in Vermont — Opening a new luxury hotel this season.

Cannon Mountain, in New Hampshire — Offers backcountry skiers access to ungroomed terrain.

Saddleback in Maine — Will open a new glade.
