Kirkwood honored on House floor
ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH

Rep. Russ Carnahan, D-St. Louis, says Kirkwood has been "uplifted by ordinary people performing extraordinary acts of heroism, caring and love."

Speaking on the U.S. House floor Tuesday night, Carnahan urged all Americans to honor the victims of a gunman who killed five at City Hall.

"Each and every one of them found purpose in their life helping others as public servants in the public good," said Carnahan, whose district includes part of Kirkwood.

Rep. Todd Akin, R-Town and Country, whose district also includes part of Kirkwood, said: "As Kirkwood and surrounding communities lay to rest these officers and public servants, one cannot help but be moved by the deep sense of faith expressed by the family and friends they have left behind."
