Lincoln University: Dream Big
At the close of the Civil War, soldiers and officers of the 62nd and 65th United States Colored Infantries established what was to become Lincoln University for the special benefit of freed African-Americans. Set upon nearly 160 acres in the capital city of Jefferson City, Mo., LU offers comprehensive services to a diverse body of traditional and non-traditional students with a broad range of academic preparation and skills. LU offers undergraduate degrees in more than 50 areas of study and graduate programs in selected disciplines, which prepare its students for citizenship and leadership in the global community. Lincoln alumni can be found in all corners of the globe, serving communities, regions, nations and world. Today, Lincoln's campus life supports nine residence halls, including two honors halls and the newly opened Sherman D. Scruggs Hall, which offers apartment-style living for students; an active student union; computer laboratories; a health services clinic; our state-of-the art Inman E. Page Library; and student involvement in NCAA Division II sports, academic bowls, dance, music, on-campus radio and television studios, the Student Government Association and more than 50 organizations, including fraternities, sororities and social or service organizations.
