ST. LOUIS: Man admits to embezzling from nuns

Paul Steven Murphy, the former head of information technology for the St. Louis Province of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, admitted Wednesday in federal court here that he embezzled $510,000 from 2000 to 2007.

Murphy, 44, of St. Louis, submitted fake invoices from a company he created, according to the agreement in which he pleaded guilty of mail fraud and filing false tax returns.

Under federal guidelines, Murphy faces roughly three to four years in prison when sentenced in February.
