CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — A woman and her 15-year-old son are dead after a shooting at a home in the southeast Missouri town of Cape Girardeau.

Names of the victims have not been released, and no suspect was in custody.

The Southeast Missourian reports that police received a 911 call about 5 a.m. Tuesday from a 14-year-old boy reporting that two people had been shot inside the home near the Southeast Missouri State University campus. Officers found the 30-year-old mother and her son fatally wounded by gunshots.

The 14-year-old and his 9-year-old brother were in the house but not injured.

Police found signs of forced entry.

Cape Girardeau had not had a murder since George Robinson, 42, died in an arson fire 18 months ago.
