GRANITE CITY -- Ian Joseph Nichols, 23, of the 2200 block of Delmar Avenue, was charged Wednesday with felony animal cruelty for allegedly killing his roommate's dog. Nichols allegedly threw the mixed-breed dog named Sheba against a wall, a table and a floor on Oct. 3, causing its death. Police said the roommate was not at home. They said that Nichols denied knowledge of the dog's whereabouts and its remains were never found, but that police found sufficient evidence to seek a charge.
