Customer wounded in haunted house mishap

OLD MONROE -- A 19-year-old customer at the Cobb Factory Haunted House here suffered an arm wound Friday night in an accident. Lincoln County sheriff's Detective Shayne Duryea said a worker accidentally fired a .45-caliber handgun when the patron tugged on the worker's costume and he fell off a low retaining wall. The gun barrel was against the victim's arm when the weapon fired a blank cartridge. The 19-year-old victim underwent surgery for a damaged artery at St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles but will fully recover, Duryea said. Charges against the worker are unlikely, he added. Authorities did not release the worker's name or the name of the injured man.
