Woman accused of embezzling $800,000

ST. LOUIS -- Roxanna Bollwerk, who worked in finance for a nonprofit agency that employs adults with developmental disabilities, funneled more than $800,000 to herself over a 12-year period, according to a federal mail fraud indictment returned here Thursday. Bollwerk, 48, worked for Project Inc., 6301 Manchester Avenue, which provides packaging and other services. She allegedly wrote checks to herself and concealed it in the accounting. Investigators said it appeared that none of the money would be recovered because Bollwerk had spent it. Project Inc. CEO Deborah Hostetter said Bollwerk, who worked there 20 years, was suspended July 31 and fired three days later.
