The preliminary results of a three-hour investigation did nothing to convince Chris Brinley that his Dragon's Den Pizzeria in De Soto is haunted.

Brinley said neither he nor members of the Jefferson County Paranormal Society had any personal experiences during an investigation Halloween night inside the pizzeria and the two abandoned apartments above it.

But the group has yet to give its final verdict on whether his place is haunted.

They set up cameras and recording devices throughout the building. It will take about a week for the investigators to review the tapes to see if they captured any unexplained voices, sounds or movements, said Nathan Husch, who founded the group.

Pizzeria workers and Brinley have reported several unusual incidents, for which they have no explanation.

Brinley's son, then 2 years old, once pointed to a corner of the pizzeria and shouted, "Boy! Boy! Boy!"

Another employee reported seeing a wheelchair in the same corner several months later.

And a window in one of the apartments appeared to be open one night and closed on its own the next day. That apartment is accessible only by using a ladder.

Employees believe the spirit of a little boy haunts the 1890s-era building, but it's unclear where that story originated. A picture from the 1890s shows a boy in a wheelchair outside Brinley's building at 106 South Main Street. Brinley's staff believes the boy lived in one of the apartments above the pizzeria, and that he was paralyzed after falling on the high school steps about a block away.
