Bungalow Court is filling up at Whittaker Homes’ New Town at St. Charles

The first thing you notice about The New Town at St. Charles are the 120-foot-high spires towering above the wedding chapel. Just a stone’s throw from St. Charles County’s Highway 370 connector, the New Town community makes its presence known, even before driving up to the main entrance. A short trip along the seemingly endless series of canals and lakes leads to the current center of town, where the nondenominational chapel joins others in the town square, a mixture of offices, shops and mixed-use buildings. There’s something for just about everyone in New Town. Custom homes, single-family dwellings, quaint cottages, condominiums, live/work units, and rental apartments cover the spectrum of housing options in this unique-to-the-St. Louis-area development. One of the newer additions is Bungalow Court, a grouping of bungalow cottages with green space in the front. Parking is accessed from the rear or from side streets. Recently completed and ready for move-in is the 1-1/2-story model on lot 3518. The main level living space is all about the owner, starting with the vaulted ceiling in the living room. Arched openings lead to the kitchen and breakfast room. The private bedroom is in the back, with a walk-in closet and access to the main bath. There’s close to 1,100 square feet of first-floor living space. This bungalow has many added features, including a double-bowl vanity in the owner’s bath, 42-inch birch cabinets, an upgraded range, satin nickel hardware and wood flooring throughout much of the first level. A two-car, detached garage is behind the residence. There’s also a second-floor option (one of four available) added to this home, which includes an additional bedroom loft of approximately 460 square feet. With a full page of optional upgrades, this bungalow is sure to get noticed. And for good measure, the price has been dropped to $266,000, a savings of over $35,000. Whittaker Sales Consultant Valerie Kaelin was quick to point up to the loft. “That’s really a big bedroom. The full wall and added door keep the space separate from the first floor,” she said. A full bathroom and a walk-in closet complete this area. “The common ground in front has been a great selling point. It keeps the neighborhood very peaceful,” said Kaelin. “And the interior is very light and bright. These cottages are attracting a lot of interest.” But what you’re really buying is New Town itself, Kaelin noted. There’s Marsala’s Market, the neighborhood grocery store, BrickHouse Bistro for casual dining, and the popular Domain Street Wine Bar. In fact, New Town now has dozens of businesses, including a hair salon, a puppy groomer, insurance agencies, three churches, a home decor shop and even a pinball parlor, PinHeadz Arcade. There is a town hall for meetings and parties, a beach-volleyball area and an organic farm where residents can buy and raise vegetables. The new outdoor ice rink has just a short time left to be open this season. In the summer, New Town residents enjoy Shire Lane Pool Club with its 700-foot “lazy river,” Junior Olympic lap pool, leisure pool and children’s area, and the Blue Agave Swim Club. “It’s a small-town atmosphere, yet close to everything,” confirms company president Greg Whittaker. “With Highway 370 just minutes away, you’re not that far from Clayton, downtown and the airport.” When the weather does turn bad, “you don’t have to be homebound at New Town,” Whittaker laughed. “On a recent snowy night, the Domain Street Wine Bar was packed.” The on-site sales office is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For information call 636-949-2700.
