Over the last year, a number of potential homebuyers put moving plans on hold as they waited to see what direction the economy was headed. Such precautionary measures didn’t stop homebuyers at The Jones Co.’s single-family-home community of Brighton Park in St. Charles City, where sales remained constant through the year.

“Brighton Park has been a busy community even with the economic downturn,” said Jason Mainard, community sales consultant. “We still sold 30 homes last year.”

In total, 100 homes have sold since the community opened three years ago. The majority of the remaining 80 homesites are in Phase III, which opened last summer, while a limited number are in the more established Phases I and II.

“There are several homesites in Phase III that back to mature trees and have private back yards,” said Mainard. Cul-de-sac sites are also available.

Homebuyers may choose from eight different floor plans, ranging in size from approximately 1,500 to 3,100 square feet. Seven models are from The Jone’s Co.’s Heartland Collection, and one - the Princeton - is from the Americana Collection. Both offer charming exterior elevations and are priced from $200,490 to $251,490.

On display, and a favorite among homebuyers, is the two-story Rosewood. The 3,062-square-foot floor plan has four bedrooms with an optional fifth, and 2-1/2 baths. At Brighton Park the Rosewood is shown with a finished lower level, which adds nearly 1,000 square feet of living space to the home. It is priced from $230,490.

“People really like the open floor plan the Rosewood offers,” Mainard said. “The bedrooms are large and the master bedroom has his and her closets.”

The two-story Princeton is another customer favorite, said Mainard. The 3,097-square-foot-home consists of four bedrooms, 2-1/2 baths, separate living and dining rooms, a large kitchen, great room and master bedroom suite. It is priced from $251,490.

“Brighton Park is the only Jones Co. community in St. Louis where homebuyers can still build the Princeton,” said Mainard.

Included in the base price of every Brighton Park home - and Jones’ homes throughout Missouri and Illinois - is the Centex Energy Advantage package, which offers a variety of energy-efficient features designed to help homebuyers cut energy usage and costs by providing better control, efficiency and insulation. Among the long list of standards are low-emissivity windows, compact fluorescent lights in high-traffic areas, Energy Star-qualified Whirlpool or KitchenAid appliances, programmable thermostat, high-efficiency Lennox HVAC system, and an in-home energy monitor that enables owners to measure and manage their electricity consumption.

With the Centex Energy Advantage, The Jones Co.’s homes should be up to 40 percent more energy-efficient than a typical 10-year-old home and up to 22 percent more energy-efficient than a typical new home, according to the NAHB Research Center, a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Association of Home Builders. The study also concluded that the package could effect a significant reduction in the carbon footprint of each house built (the amount of greenhouse gas released into the atmosphere each year).

If you have questions about mortgage rates and financing your new home, The Jones Co.’s sister company, CTX Mortgage, is available to help. “They offer great customer service and below-market interest rates,” Mainard said.

The sales office at Brighton Park is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, and noon to 6 p.m. Monday.
