Around the Big 12: K-State stops Kansas
ASSOCIATED PRESS
Daniel Thomas ran for 185 yards and a touchdown, and Kansas State harassed Todd Reesing into three turnovers to remain in control of the Big 12 North with a 17-10 victory over rival Kansas on Saturday. K-State stayed close in the first half by forcing two fumbles and an interception by Reesing, then took over in the second behind Thomas' bruising running to win at home and end a three-game losing streak to KU. Reesing, who is nursing a groin strain, had another forgettable game a week after being benched, undone by early turnovers, occasionally wobbly passes and a few drops. He finished with 241 yards on 27-of-41 passing. And Jacob Branstetter missed 30-yard field goals in each half for the Jayhawks' first four-game losing streak since 2006. No. 2 Texas 35, Central Florida 3 — Jordan Shipley set a Texas record with 273 yards receiving, including an 88-yard TD, and the Longhorns shook off a slow start to win at home. He broke the Texas mark of 198 set in 1979 by Johnny "Lam" Jones. The touchdown came early in the fourth quarter on a drive that started at the 1. Colt McCoy passed for 470 yards with two touchdowns and was just short of Major Applewhite's school-record 473 yards that was set in the 2001 Holiday Bowl. Texas led 14-3 at halftime on two touchdown runs by Cody Johnson. Central Florida managed just 151 total yards. No. 18 Oklahoma State 34, Iowa State 8 — Keith Toston ran for a career-high 206 yards and three TDs, Zac Robinson threw a TD pass and the Cowboys bounced back from a drubbing by Texas by romping on the road. Oklahoma State controlled the game with a solid performance on both sides of the ball and reached seven victories for the fourth straight season. Colorado 35, Texas A&M 34 — Patrick Devenny's one-handed grab from 22 yards out tied the game with 2:04 left and Aric Goodman's conversion kick provided the winning point to lift the Buffaloes to victory at home. The Aggies later forced a punt, but Terrence Frederick muffed it and Buffs linebacker Marcus Burton recovered with 23 seconds to ice the game.
