No. 1 Kansas 101, Hofstra 65 — Xavier Henry hit five 3-pointers and scored 27 points to set a school freshman record, and the top-ranked Jayhawks wore down visiting Hofstra. Sherron Collins added 23 points and Cole Aldrich had 11 points and eight rebounds, lifting the Jayhawks to their 42nd straight win at Allen Fieldhouse. No. 2 Michigan St. 97, Florida Gulf Coast 58 — Durrell Summers scored 14 of his 17 points in the first half, Kalin Lucas scored 21 and Michigan State pulled away to beat visiting Florida Gulf Coast. Michigan State got its 33rd straight win in a home opener and 40th in a row against a nonconference team. No. 4 Kentucky 75, Morehead State 59 — Kentucky freshman Eric Bledsoe scored 24 points while starting in place of John Wall, and the fourth-ranked Wildcats opened the John Calipari era with a win over visiting Morehead State. No. 5 Villanova 84, Fairleigh Dickinson 61 — Corey Stokes scored 20 points, Corey Fisher added 13, and Villanova overcame a sloppy first half to pull out a victory over visiting Fairleigh Dickinson. No. 7 Purdue 89, Cal State Northridge 64 — Robbie Hummel scored 17 points to help Purdue beat visiting Cal State Northridge in its season opener. Hummel also had six rebounds, four assists and two blocks. No. 9 Duke 96, UNC Greensboro 62 — Kyle Singler scored 14 of his 20 points in the first half, and Duke shrugged off the absence of two starters in its rout of visiting North Carolina-Greensboro. No. 10 Tennessee 83, Austin Peay 54 — Scotty Hopson scored 16 points, Cameron Tatum had 15 off the bench, and Tennessee beat visiting Austin Peay. No. 12 Connecticut 75, William & Mary 66 — Jerome Dyson scored 27 points and Connecticut opened its season with a win over visiting William & Mary.
