The Granite City High School competitive junior varsity cheerleading squad took first place in their division at a competition in Mount Vernon. The team qualified for the state competition later this month. The varsity squad also qualified for the state competition. 

Additionally, the GCHS dance team placed second in Hip Hop AAA and first in pom dance at the Althoff IDTA competition. The team will perform their routines at Marion High School on Saturday Feb. 4.
