Southern Illinois University Edwardsville School of Nursing assistant professor Amelia Perez received a $10,000 fellowship from the Illinois Board of High Education. She was one of 18 nursing faculty members at Illinois colleges to receive the award. Perez plans to use her fellowship to attend continuing education conferences and workshops to learn practices for incorporating diversity, culture, competence and health care specific to the Hispanic population, into the nursing curriculum. She teaches primary care and health systems nursing.Â
