Twin Echo Elementary School in the Collinsville School District and Liberty Elementary in the Edwardsville School district received state grant funds last week as part of the “Safe Routes to School” program. The state awarded $21.7 million to Illinois schools to repair, enhance or install projects that make walks and bike rides to school safe for students. 

Twin Echo will receive $250,000 to construct, repair or replace sidewalks. Liberty will receive $112,000 for sidewalks and $35,000 to install, enhance or repair crosswalks.
