The February meeting of the Lakeview Garden Club was held at the home of Virginia McKim. A Sansevieria plant was present to the hostess, and the hostess gave bird feed to each member in attendance.
President Ruby Brown and the following members were present: Thilerna French, Barb Heppermann, Carol Holbert, Linda Kunz, Virginia McKim, Jane Molinar, Mary Muentnich, Karen Tilashalski, and Linda Wiedower.
Roll call was taken by sharing admirable comments about last month's program, Marcia Fish of Mission of Moms.
The following summer events were announced:
• Plant and Bake Sale at the home of Jane Molinar, May 12
• Field trip to Henry White Experimental Farm in Millstadt, June 13
• Field trip to Watershed Nature Center in Edwardsville. July 11
• Field trip to Resource Management Recycling in Earth City. August 1
Information was shared about free electronic recycling at Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville on second Sunday of each month; the Collinsville city lot on Main St. on second Fridays from 12-6 p.m.; and the Edwardsville Bank on Illinois Route 157 & Meridian Road on fourth Fridays.
The Club will purchase items for the Maryville Food Pantry. The pantry is in need of detergent, peanut butter, soups, tuna fish, cooking oil, and toiletries such as razors and soap.
Members expressed their gratitude to Larry Trucano, Township Highway Commissioner, and the Collinsville Township staff for working diligently to keep the area safe and in good repair.
The District V annual meeting will be March 22. The host will be the Garden Study of Granite City.
The Lakeview Garden Club will be hosting the District V Workshop on June 7 at Collinsville Memorial Library.
