The Granite City Salvation Army collected more than $250,000 in donations during the 2011 holiday season, according to Corps Officer Major Garry Lowder. The donations are used to provide services to Granite City residents throughout the year. Some 500 cases per month are helped through the food pantry.

The Salvation Army is still seeking donations to help meet a growing demand for services. Call 618-451-7957 or send donations to The Salvation Army, 3007 E. 23rd St., Granite City, IL, 62040.
